There must be a lot of people in Pune that miss Goan food especially when summers is really a bad time to visit Goa. Seasonal Tastes at Westin is having the Gaga Over Goan Food Festival and for that they brought Chef Selester Fernandes from Marriott Goa as well. So, all those craving for traditional and authentic flavors of Goa can now have it in the confines of an AC restaurant. Chef Selester also carried all the spices and masalas with him from Goa.

The Food Prowl Team was invited for a food tasting. The festival is from 21st May 2018 – 31st May 2018. Timings are 7 PM – 11 PM.
02Our meal started with a Kokum Drink, that was very refreshing in this weather.

04

03

The quintessential Rawa Fry Prawns and Fish were our first course, crunchy coating with soft meat, and served with a Goan red chutney on the side adding great flavor.

05

Next up was Surmai Recheado, a very popular goan masala with complexity of pungent, acidic, spicy, hint of sweet flavors, packed in a dark red paste.  The fish was pan fried and topped with the masala, delicious.

06

For mains we had Crab Xec Xec, a fresh coconut-based curry made with roasted masalas. Every bite with crab meat guaranteed that it felt very costal, fresh and light, it paired well with goan rice.

07

08

The crab was accompanied by a contrasting Goan Pork Sausage dish, the beauty of Goan cured sausages is mesmerizing its enjoyable with Pao. And the spectrum of Goan food was completed by Chicken Cafreal, made to perfection, it’s a dish that will be part of every Goan meal.

09Vegetarians should also not loose heart as Chef prepared a fabulous Goan Mushroom Chilly Fry, whole mushrooms in a base with lots of heat and flavors.

10

It was time for some Goan Desserts, a fantastic tasting Dodol and equally good Bebinca. It was a spot-on meal with all the right Goan dishes and absolutely fantastic flavors, if you are missing Goa this can be a nice meal to rekindle the holiday memories.

Special Thanks to Tanvi Deshpande for inviting us.
