Restaurant Name: Chop Chop – Wok to Go
Location: First Floor, Darpan Apartment, Opposite Bank of Maharasthra, DP Road, Aundh, Pune.
After establishing its presence in Koregaon Park this Chinese & Asian food eatery opened at a much larger place in Aundh recently. The menu is not expansive yet there good enough dishes to try out. They have consciously kept it that way, so they could focus on the basics being done right, rather than going overboard.
The Food Prowl Team was invited for a food tasting and Luvin Paryani, the co-owner of Chop Chop – Wok To Go played a gracious host.
The menu includes – Dimsums, Skewers, Fried Starters, Hot Pots and Wok Boxes. The wok boxes offer customization to suit your preference for noodles or rice along with base protein (Tofu, Chicken, Prawns), 4 different Veggies, 2 Condiments and 8 options in Sauce. All that tossed in the wok together and neatly served in takeaway wok boxes.
We tried the array of Veg and Non-Veg Dimsums all of which had nice juicy fillings. Prawn Sui Mai and Chicken & Basil Dumpling are highly recommended. The Veg Dimsums were also good.
As for the Skewers, Chicken Yakitori was an absolute winner, gorgeous dark little sticky sauce with lots of sesame on it, just a perfect Yakitori. The Sambal Baby Potatoes were also very good, had plenty of heat to them and potatoes were delicate enough.
Spring Rolls were done well, other than the regular Veg and Non Veg, they have Cheese and Jalapeno Spring Rolls, which is probably not available in any other restaurant in Pune. The combination of cheese and jalapenos never disappoints.
There were two curries to choose from for the main course, Malaysian Kari and Thai Green Curry. Served with your choice of protein and veggies along with rice they were aromatic and fresh with herbs and mild spices, good comfort food.
The Signature Wok Boxes, we were served three different combinations, Flat Rice Noodles with Chiang Mai Sauce, a blossoming sauce with basil, coriander flavors topped with chilies. The Flat Rice Noodles are prepared in house. Hakka Noodles in Hong Kong Sauce which is basically a Kung Pao 5 spice sauce that is served along with the Hakka Noodles. This is one of the best selling dishes of Chop Chop – Wok To Go. Rice in Beijing Sauce, a black pepper sauce that was perfect.
To accompany all this food, they serve flavored lemonades and ice teas. Peach Ice Tea and Lemongrass Lemonade were very refreshing.
The price range for the dishes is between Rs. 180-300 which is pretty reasonable for the quality of food served and the quantity.
Chop Chop – Wok To Go is recommended for those who are tired of eating the run of the mill Chinese and Asian food available almost everywhere in Pune.
